Liebster Award! Wow! Little Ole' Me???

OMG - Look at me!  And my AWARD!  I am so honored!

I've read about the Liebster Award at other blogs, and here I am with my own, which makes me feel like a legitimate Blogger!
 Great Blog to Visit!

I would like to thank Alicia over at The Elementary Professor  for nominating me - THANK YOU!  This just really topped off a great day for me!

Alicia came up with some really fun questions for me to answer.  I feel like a celebrity being interviewed :)

1- What is your favorite subject to teach and why?
My favorite subject to teach is whatever I'm teaching at the moment.  I just switched to math this year after teaching language arts for the last 14 years.  Prior to that, I taught both language arts and math.  I'm really, really enjoying math.  I truly believe that if I'm making the material fun enjoyable and innovative, my students will want to learn - and they will!

2-  When you were a kid, did you already know you were going to be a teacher?
Always!  I played school constantly and had lesson plan books of my own (my dad was a teacher).  I taught my dolls and stuffed animals - and my brother.  I still take credit for making him smart.

3-  If you could have a shopping spree at any one store, what would it be?
Well, often I would say I'd love to shop at a book store - oh, my gosh - just the smell of the freshly printed books . . . (I'm sure some of you can relate!!!)  But lately, I feel like my wardrobe needs a major overhaul, so I'd have to go with a clothes shopping spree - I'll pick Maurices - my newest favorite store!

4- What do you do to make yourself relax on weekends and breaks?
Relax?  What's that?  I love, Love, LOVE watching The Office!  I just love those people - especially Dwight!  That show makes me laugh out loud and makes me happy when skies are gray!

5-  If you have a family and teach full time, I'd love a tip about how to balance it all.  Beyond being good at scheduling...I'm already a bit crazy about that?
I don't have a tip about having it all - we all have to find our own way, but I will say this to Alicia - your kids are at such wonderful ages.  PLEASE take the time to enjoy them NOW!  Mine are 19, 17, and 15 and getting older so fast!  My oldest is a freshman in college and I'm still in shock.  My heart breaks and my eyes fill with tears just typing this.  (You didn't know you'd make me cry!)  It's true - they grow up too fast and I would give anything to turn back the clock a few years!!!!!!

6-  What is your favorite thing to do at home?
Well - after eating - I would have to say playing around on the computer - which could mean anything from Pinterest to Teachers Pay Teachers, to creating products for TPT, and blogging, etc.  And . . . did I mention that I LOVE The Office?

7-  What is your must have food or drink when you're in for a long session of planning/grading, etc....
Well - I am the Caffeine Queen - COFFEE!!!!!  Regular or decaf - with yummy flavors!  I'm currently loving Hazelnut and a new creamer named after Almond Joy (I know, weird - but delicious!!!)

8-  After school in your classroom, music or silence?

9-What's one of the scariest things you've ever done?
Interviewing for an administrative position that I didn't get - in front of 7 of my administrative peers.  Also, leading a committee on our school levy campaign - scary because I didn't have a clue what I was doing!!

10- What is one of those teaching moments that you still laugh about and will forever retell?
Well, there was the day a kindergartner brought me a piece of bologna and wanted me to eat it in front of him - Eww!  It came out of his pocket!!!!  I told him I was saving it for lunch!!!!  There was the day another kindergartner brought an egg to school - and asked me to cook it for her!  (I never could figure out HOW this girl got the egg to school without breaking it!  She was the hell-on-wheels type!)  Oh, so many others!

11-  If you could meet 1 character from any book in real life, who would it be and why?  What would you with them?
I would meet my childhood hero - Nancy Drew!  I read all of her books during third grade and wanted more, more, more!  I have no idea what I'd do with her - ask if she married Nick Nickerson?

For the next part of the award, I am supposed to tell you 11 random facts about myself.  Ok - you asked for it!

1.  I can't stop biting my nails.  I try to stop and next thing you know - I'm back at it!  Grrr!

2.  I'm a terrible cook - I burn EVERYTHING!  Sometimes I try so, so, so hard, and my food just tastes BAD!

3.  I love to hear my dog snore.  She's 14 years old and I know that I won't have her forever, but we love her so much!  Her name is Trixie and she's a lovable mutt.  We got her from the pound 13 years ago.  She is truly part of our family.

4.  I'm learning that I procrastinate.  When I don't know how to start something - I do nothing.  Eeks!

5.  I'm an introvert.  I force myself to be more outgoing than I usually feel like being.

6.  My family is my life and I am their biggest fans!  I am so proud of my kids and hubby and I wish I could
keep my family unit together forever.

7.  I am fidgety - I have "nervous" habits, but I'm not nervous.  I just always have to be touching something or moving.

8.  I spend too much time perfecting my lessons (notes, handouts, etc.).  I can't stand my lessons to be not exactly the way I want them to look.  I rarely say "Good enough."  That means I spend way too much time on them.

9.  I love walking and running and working out.  Every day - at least an hour.  Non-negotiable!

10.  I love thunderstorms - we had some today.  In the summer I like to sit on my porch and watch it rain.  When it thunders and lightning, I go inside, but I still like to watch.

11.  I wake up at 4:30 every morning to work out before school.  But I stay up too late at night working on the computer.  Which is why I am the Caffeine Queen.  :)
